800,000 b/d Forecast Was Eclipsed Four Years Faster Than Expected

Eagle Ford crude oil production has grown twice as fast as anyone thought just two years ago. That was the message delivered at day 2 of Bentek’s annual Benposium.

Rusty Braziel, founder of RBN Energy, compared the company’s forecast from two years ago to what the company expects today.

What was predicted as production for 2016 in 2011 has already been eclipsed! In 2011, Bentek expected Eagle Ford oil production would eclipse 800,000 b/d sometime in 2016.

The sale this year of $20 million in bonds by La Salle County after voter approval at the last general election will mean that many roads damaged by oilfield traffic will be repaired, but a loop around the northeast side of Cotulla remains top priority, according to County Judge Joel Rodriguez this week. La Salle commissioners have listed the roads they plan to target with more than $11 million from the bond sale after setting aside around $4.25 million for the traffic loop that is planned to divert commercial traffic away from downtown Cotulla.

Voters in La Salle County will decide on Saturday, May 11 whether the district will be allowed to take out $5 million in bonds and move funds from a past loan into an account that will be safe from recapture by the state. Prevented from actively campaigning for a pair of propositions in the upcoming Cotulla ISD election, Superintendent Dr. Jack Seals instead outlined in a public meeting last week what he believes will be the benefits to the school and its students if voters give the board of trustees the green light on both issues.
